finding truth in the midst of your wilderness

Have you ever had a dream that stayed with you for a long time, if not forever?

In 2017, just before we celebrated Thanksgiving, I had a dream. It is a dream about faith, hope and healing. It is a dream that’s not only meant for me, but for you too.

From the dark wilderness to light in the forest

It was dark. I was running. I was tired, scared, and anxious. I kept tripping over roots from dead trees in the wilderness. I kept looking back, and the more I looked back, the more I tripped. At times I kept lying on the ground, but when I gathered enough strength, I’d get up and run further. After running for what felt like forever, I started to walk, with my heart still pounding in my chest. In the distance I could see a dim light. I was intrigued and true to my nature, wanted to investigate this dim light in the middle of the wilderness. The more I investigated, the more a light shone unto my feet and on a path towards the dim light. My heart became calmer and more at peace. I felt more excited and intrigued about this dim light which started to shine even brighter. I continued this lightened path until I reached a door which seemed to have been swallowed by the vast wilderness. I opened the door and what I saw overwhelmed my soul. It was like the door made room for another world filled with wonderful things. I walked through a forest with tiny frogs, rabbits, butterflies, flowers, birds, dragonflies, snails, and fireflies. I could still see more light coming from further away, so I continued my journey towards the light. When I reached the light, I saw a unicorn. He wanted to play and kept trying to get me to follow him just like a dog would when it wants you to show you something. I followed the unicorn and it led me to a beautiful waterfall, a stream of water and green pastures with big trees between mountains, with a rainbow just above the waterfall. The waterfall was bigger than any I’ve ever seen before. I bent over to drink from the sweet life-giving water. I could see the bottom of the stream. At last, I was refreshed and at peace.

It is difficult to say what is impossible, for the dream of yesterday is the hope of today and the reality of tomorrow.

Robert H. Goddard

Hope upon a dream, believe in tomorrow

When I woke up, I woke up rejuvenated and I felt like I could do anything I put my mind to.

We all face trials, we all experience times where we are in a wilderness. You may feel anxious, desperate to get away from your past, maybe something is chasing you or you may be chasing something else. Maybe you are starting to doubt yourself. It could be that you need to reach targets, goals, or someone else’s dream for your life, but what I learned was, the more I dived into scripture, the clearer my path became.

Truth’s shining light guides me in my choices and decisions; the revelation of your Word makes my pathway clear.

Psalms 119:105 TPT

I started to fall less. I became more confident, but wary of self-confidence. Yes, I didn’t move so fast anymore, but I learned to become patient as I took one little step at a time. I was more aware, grounded, and stronger.

As I followed the lightened path, I grew into a person I never thought I’d become. I experienced healing, empowerment, peace, love, and joy in truth.

“I leave the gift of peace with you—my peace. Not the kind of fragile peace given by the world, but my perfect peace. Don’t yield to fear or be troubled in your hearts—instead, be courageous!

John 14:27 TPT

In search of the truth

Recently again I experienced a tiny moment where I thought I wasn’t good enough, but the truth is, this is a lie the enemy wants you to believe.

What is the truth? Come back to your identity. You are a child of the Most High God and you are made in His image.

He called you to a purpose bigger than yourself. Often, we don’t know what our purpose is, but what if we only learn our purpose along the way, completing our missions in life…

Bob Goff wrote in his book, Dream Big that we should say yes more. Say yes to the missions you feel in your soul you need to complete. They can be small like being kind to someone whose faith needs to be restored in humankind or bigger like changing someone’s life who would then cause ripples (or waves of goodness) in other people’s lives. Say yes!

You can always find a million reasons to say no, but if you find the courage to say yes, you could change your life.

Hope for tomorrow

When you follow love and truth, it becomes the light in your life, but you will become a beacon that shine light on the paths of others so they may also have hope.

How will you use your time to share light, love, joy, and kindness? Maybe you can:

  • Give kind words to others that build them up?

  • Remind others you appreciate them.

  • Help them out with something.

When you have hope in tomorrow and you add love and faith, you will reach the point where you are empowered. You will reach the place where you experience complete peace not known in this world. You will experience inexplicable joy even in hard times. You will experience growth when it feels like you hit a glass ceiling. You will inspire others, not only to feel better, but to become better.

Let everyone be devoted to fulfil the work God has given them to do with excellence, and their joy will be in doing what’s right and being themselves, and not in being affirmed by others.

Galatians 6:4 TPT

I hope this message brought you as much meaning to your life as it did to me. Go out, share your light, love and passion and may you say yes to your calling. It may just be the most fulfilling thing you’ll ever do.
